Well, what a whirlwind vacation and time of rejuvenation. In real life, I\’ve been on the road to Mississippi to the farm and further south to New Orleans to celebrate life and love.

This was the second time we\’ve been able to go to the French Quarter and stay close to Bourbon Street to be near all the true NOLA action. We got to go to the Old Absinthe House, eat at the ACME Oyster House, and stay at the Bourbon Orleans. In all of these locations, we chatted with locals and noshed on amazing and unique cuisine. We even did a tour this time with Jonathan Weiss Tours. The ghost tour was really well done, and even though it wasn\’t necessarily my thing, the dude conducting the tour was a master storyteller and a fascinating NOLA character himself.

As a storyteller, I would highly recommend this tour for more than just the surface level jump scares provided by a more commercial tour. As Mr. Weiss said at the beginning of his tour, the records of the city are disturbing and unsettling. His hope for us was to impart some of that feeling with which to cast the jovial festivities against. The performance was truly inspiring and rivaled some of my best classroom comebacks for the heckling drunks.

One of his fascinations was the fact that Jackson Square had become a location for outdoor weddings. Historically, it was the spot for public execution and torture and he laughed that everyone always has their pictures made there.

Sure enough, I have a photo of myself in New Orleans standing next to the fountain in Jackson Square at age seven while my sister climbed the railing beside me. Mom and Dad had taken us to NOLA to see the King Tut exhibit when I visited back in 1978 and I still remember taking that photo and seeing the bright shining gold of the exhibit.

My favorite interaction of the trip happened at the Clover Grill. Our waitstaff was a collared submissive who was proudly wearing both a collar and cuffs. I noticed first off, but didn\’t want to say anything until I went up to the cash register and we had more space to speak. I told him that I really liked his collar and that he was lucky he had someone to have gotten him such a cool gift. He smiled and agreed and then showed me the locking mechanism on his cuffs. He said, \”You know, you are one of five people who have called this a collar and not a necklace. I guess if you know, you know.\” I laughed and repeated what he said because it\’s true, \”If you know, you know.\”

I thought back to other subs I\’ve encountered in my life both in and out of the scene. I was only in the scene single for a very short time and never got to be a party favor or anything fun like that. My Dom discovered me through another hobby. We would travel together and through conversations he discerned my nature. He was quiet and soloemn and serious, but fun and deeply cared for me in his own way. The fact that that way revolved around sticking his dick in me (nothing wrong with that), not withstanding, he is and was a good man and excellent citizen and Catholic. Most folks I met in the scene were just that: regular people who just had a kink.

Because of that, I often look for \”like-minded\” people while I am out and am surprised how many of us there are who live a more open life. Although it\’s true that in my professional life, no one knows, but my entire family and close friends know my writings.

With that in mind, I want to expand my writing in the next year. 2023 will be a year of SMUT for me. I have established Dominic & Rosie in their genres, but the numbers are saying that Bessie Blanco needs to be my focus for now.

What are my SMART goals for this year?

I want to keep writing smut and enjoy finding some new niches.  2022 was my first year publishing (starting on September) and I busted my secret goal of making 50 dollars by the end of the year (I have a V, V small collection so far—I’m lazy and experimenting with writing niches and how-to outline and get the most money and enjoyment of my time). 

Writing goals: I’ve read that I should write 2k a day.  I’m a scattered writer who so far works in fits of passion—so I’m gonna see if I can slowly up my routines to get to 2k by February. I\’m charting in my bullet journal, so hopefully, that will keep me accountable.

Research goals: I found two genres that are niches that I can comfortably write towards. I want to maximize myself in those niches with an ARC team.  I have a followers list and a book funnel account, so I’ll probably start there.  If anyone reading this blog would like to be a part of an ARC team for Bessie Blanco\’s writings, please let me know here.

Publishing goals:  simply put— more pages.  Ideally, I’d like to do 3 more scenes for Rossie and Dom and 10 more for Susan and her journey.  I want to write the hucow Montana wife novel and market it correctly for the niche. It needs an ARC team and I will use Susan to help learn those ropes.

Bigger ideas? Heck yeah. I want to write a romance novel without all the smut. The problem is, I don\’t read Romance without all the smut! hahahahahah, so I really don\’t know what I\’m doing there. Might have to stick to the romantic thriller aspect.
